Now Is The Time For A Reset

David Brown

There’s an old productivity saying that goes as follows; we tend to overestimate what we can achieve in a day but underestimate what we can achieve in a year. That’s because of the time constraints involved and the flexibility the longer period gives you. On a daily basis, small fires can erupt that can cause time to run away from you. Over the long-term, schedules smooth out, providing you with the time you need for the bigger picture tasks.

That said you still need to take small steps each day to drive your business forward if only for your own sanity. Here’s a few suggestions on actions you can take to step clear of the clutter and reset your direction.

1. CLEAR WORKSPACE CLUTTER:

Spend ten minutes decluttering your workspace. A clutter-free environment can improve focus and productivity, leading to better performance. You’ll be shocked at how organized and productive you become once you take this action. The mental impact is worth it alone!

2. SET PRIORITIES:

Take a quick moment to jot down the top three priorities for the day. This helps to maintain focus and ensures that important tasks are addressed promptly. During the day review these priorities and make a pact with yourself that you won’t leave until they are done

3. QUICK EMAIL ORGANIZATION:

Spend ten minutes organizing your inbox by deleting unnecessary emails, filing important ones into folders, and flagging or responding to urgent messages. A tidy inbox reduces stress and improves efficiency.

4. EXPRESS GRATITUDE:

Send a brief thank-you email or message to a vendor, colleague, client, or customer who has recently supported your business. Showing appreciation fosters goodwill and strengthens relationships. You may well be surprised at what results from expressing a simple thank you.

5. REVIEW GOALS:

Take a moment to review your business goals and assess progress. Adjust timelines or strategies if necessary to stay on track towards achieving objectives. The act of reviewing just one goal for five minutes every day can have a mammoth impact on results.

6. BRAINSTORM IDEAS:

Set aside ten minutes to brainstorm new ideas or solutions to current challenges. Encourage creativity and innovation by jotting down any thoughts or insights that come to mind. What’s one problem you’ve encountered this week? What’s one action you can take to eliminate it from happening again? Likewise, what’s one positive that has happened? What caused it and how can it be repeated?
