Gem Legacy Announces Groundbreaking Educational Campus
Campus will increase capacity and benefits of higher education
Gem Legacy is proud to announce its newest endeavor for impact in East Africa aligning with its mission to support vocational training, entrepreneurship, and community development in artisanal gem mining communities: the Gem Legacy Campus. The Campus will house the Gem Faceting School and College Dormitories, supporting our vision to help fill the gap for mining communities in key ways to result in generational impact and holistic life improvement. The Campus will result in a 400% increase in lives impacted annually by education.
The annual expanded capacity of our College Scholarship program from 7 students to over 30 will make higher education accessible to the next generation in gem mining regions, increasing their eligibility and qualifications for potentially higher income jobs.
The annual expanded capacity of the Gem Faceting School from 8 students to over 20 will educate the next generation to fill a rapidly growing sector of the economy and equip Tanzanians to add value to their national resources.
The Student Dormitories will make it possible for students from any region of Tanzania who are children of verified miners to receive College Scholarships or attend the Gem Faceting School, while increasing educational support and creating a holistic experience for students.
Among many additional benefits are holistic student support including educational oversight and career preparation that will exponentially improve graduation and employment rates, ensuring these two initiatives leave a quantifiable legacy.
