TJS to Launch Jewelry Manufacturing Fundamentals Education Day On the Eve of the 2027 Symposium
TJS (The Jewelry Symposium), the jewelry industry’s annual international event dedicated specifically to the advancement of jewelry manufacturing technology, has announced a new addition to the 2027 Symposium – a Jewelry Manufacturing Fundamentals education day. Six educational seminars will be presented on Saturday, May 15, 2027, in the TJS event space at the Marriot Detroit in Troy, Michigan, the day before the symposium presentations begin on Sunday. Co-sponsored by Ransom & Randolph and Stuller, and taught by professionals who will be attending the symposium, the sessions will include in-depth manufacturing basics for jewelry newcomers who would benefit from the direct access to some of the industry’s most knowledgeable experts. Seats will be limited, and the program will be offered at a reduced price to encourage attendance by students, apprentices, and young jewelry artisans.
Linus Drogs, TJS Board Chairman, commented. “Part of The Jewelry Symposium’s mission is to encourage the development and advancement of all facets of the jewelry-making community, and an important part of that mission is helping bring new talent into our industry. Over the past two years, our roundtable discussions have consistently highlighted the growing need to attract, develop, and retain skilled talent in jewelry manufacturing. We believe TJS can play an important role by extending its network and relationships to newcomers and connecting them with the extraordinary depth of knowledge and expertise within our community. Our goal is not only to provide access to education and resources, but also to help newcomers feel welcomed, connected, and part of something meaningful as they build successful careers in the industry. These educational opportunities can also benefit experienced professionals by providing valuable cross-training and broader exposure to areas where jewelry manufacturing processes and disciplines overlap.”
As a set, the seminars will offer a holistic view of the overall manufacturing process and how each part affects another. Topics will include manufacturing materials (metals, stones, solder, etc.), design, casting, finishing, setting, and plating. The accessible attendance fee will include all 6 seminars and lunch. The day will end with a Question & Answer session where the presenters, TJS board, and other industry professionals will field manufacturing questions. Seminar attendees will be able to purchase dinner tickets in advance if they wish to stay for the TJS Welcome Dinner on Saturday evening, to network with the larger group of knowledgeable TJS attendees.
